Suspended Floor Build Up

The floor can be formed in various ways using timber joists precast concrete panels block and beam system or cast in situ with reinforced concrete.
Suspended floor build up. A suspended floor is a ground floor with a void underneath the structure. This is called under floor insulation ufi. The garage conversion requires the floor to be raised to match the house so first job is to build a suspended floor. If your house has a suspended timber floor on the ground floor then a layer of insulation can be held in place under the floor between the joists.
The distance between them is referred to as the span. Sleeper walls are built on small foundations and hold up the joists at regular intervals. Be ventilated with air bricks or ventilation sleeves positioned in the external walls in order to avoid the potential build up of gas. Ground levels under floor should be relatively level. This construction is similar to the timber floor above but uses either pre cast concrete planks or small pre cast concrete beams with concrete blocks laid between the beams. The suspended floor does not rely on support from the ground below but instead is supported by the external walls and therefore the foundations below. All you need to know.
Ventilation is required in the same way as a suspended timber floor.
